PLZ 53894
Bereits 1921 gab es bei der Alten Kirche ein Kriegerdenkmal. Im gleichen Jahr begannen Planungen zu einem
neuen Denkmal unterhalb der Alten Kirche. Das Denkmal war auch 1940 noch nicht vollständig fertig.
Nach dem Krieg gab es seit 1952 Planungen, eine Erweiterung des Denkmals um Tafeln für die
Gefallenen und Ziviltoten anzubringen. Um 1961 scheinen der Abbruch und Neubau des Denkmals abgeschlossen zu
sein. Die Anlage wurde 1985 restauriert und besteht heute aus einer halbrunden Bruchsteinmauer mit je
fünf dreiteiligen Namenstafeln die durch einen schmalen Mauersteg voneinander getrennt sind. Auf dem
oberen Abschluss drei Kreuze von denen das mittlere die beiden seitlichen überragt.
In der Alten
Kirche eine in einem Holzrahmen und unter Glas ein Gedenkblatt mit den Gefallenen der Pfarrgemeinde Mechernich
mit Widmung.
Auf dem Friedhof bei der Alten Kirche ein steinernes Hochkreuz davor im Boden eine kleine
Steinplatte mit Widmung.
